OpenSim : HyperGrid : Exploding Smart Phones and the Stupidity of VR Headsets

By Avatar JayR Cela

Ya know what ? Sometimes I just am amazed at the total ignorance or lack of forethought some people exhibit when suddenly jumping upon the latest and greatest so called " The Next Big Thing " and how it can sometimes manifest itself in a consumer rush to nothing more than a Buzz-Word.

Let's take for instance the recent fiasco with the Samsung 7 series of ( Dumb-Ass-Phones ) so called Smart Phones. What is so smart about placing a potential BOMB in a position directly in front of your Eye's.

Lithium Ion Batteries are well know for more than a decade to be potentially dangerous under certain conditions, do you know of any portable phone that does not contain one of these ? I don't think so!

Evan if you do decide to make the leap into this folly of Over Hype, are you willing to risk your eyesight, or a permanently scarred face ?   Is the possible potential of some poorly made, cheap ass device worth it, in order to just simply immerse yourself into some fantasy world creation, and blowing up literally in your face ?

Palmer Lucky the inventor of the Oculus Rift ( and Over Priced ) VR headset is a very intelligent person, I tend to doubt FaceBook's head honcho, Mark Zuckerburg's sanity on this call, especially when you figure he actually paid 2 BILLION $$$$ for what I am convinced will be a dead in the water boondogle.

Google has at least released the DayDream VR Headset at a reasonable price of 79$ U.S. however it currently is only operational with the their new FlagShip Pixel Google SmartPhone, about 700$ ++ depending on whether or not you want the base model or the premium version.

Hell, come on, let's be real here, for 700$ I can easily buy a very nice Dell Server perfectly capable of running  my own Open Simulator Grid, and more than likely it will last much longer than the 2 year average life expectancy, of today's  current Smart Phone selections.
